Power Loss Reduction of Angled Metallic Wedge Plasmonic Waveguides via the Interplay between Near-Field Optical Coupling and Modal Coupling

نویسندگان

چکیده

Coupled metallic-wedge nano-plasmonic (CWP) waveguides were predicted as the best building blocks, which can realize ultra-compact and broadband integrated optical circuits (IOCs) due to localized near-field distributions at dielectric/metal interfaces. Our simulation results show that manipulations of distribution modal coupling in CWP effectively minimize power loss by varying wedge angles, avoid from metallic structure thereby improving practical application IOCs.

Efficient coupling between dielectric-loaded plasmonic and silicon photonic waveguides.

The realization of practical on-chip plasmonic devices will require efficient coupling of light into and out of surface plasmon waveguides over short length scales. In this letter, we report on low insertion loss for polymer-on-gold dielectric-loaded plasmonic waveguides end-coupled to silicon-on-insulator waveguides with a coupling efficiency of 79 ± 2% per transition at telecommunication wave...

A directional coupling scheme for efficient coupling between Si3N4 photonic and hybrid slot-based plasmonic waveguides

Slot-based plasmonic waveguides have attracted significant attention owing to their unique ability to confine light within nanometer-scale. In this context, enhanced localized light-matter interaction and control have been exploited to demonstrate novel concepts in data communication and sensing applications revealing the immense potential of plasmonic slot waveguides. However, inherent light a...

Quasi-3D plasmonic coupling scheme for near-field optical lithography and imaging.

Near-field optical imaging and lithography rely on achieving both high resolution and efficient coupling. Particularly conventional near-field scanning optical microscopy (NSOM) suffers from the trade-off between resolution and efficiency. Planar plasmonic lens schemes can partially solve this issue utilizing plasmonic resonances, but the performance is not robust over a large range of sample m...
